How much walking is involved?

This is an active tour. During the tour we will do a walk on formed tracks through New Zealand native forest. This walk takes up to 2 hours and involves climbing steps and sometimes slippery track. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

What can we expect for lunch?

We have a picnic lunch catered by a local cafe. It includes a filled bagel, salad fruit and a sweet. We also carry water and muesli bars.

Sometimes we have lunch at a grill in Ngawi – this might include fish and chips or a Crayfish Burger!

Why should I take a guided tour?

Coming on a guided tour means that you will learn so much more about the history and features of the area. You don’t need a guide to enjoy the beauty, but a guide will really change your perspective on the beauty you see.

How fit do I need to be?

We think you should have moderate fitness levels to manage the walk to see the Putangirua Pinnacles.
Importantly you should be confident walking on unstable and slippery surfaces.
Please let your guide know if you would like walking poles, before commencing the tour.
