Cellar Door Etiquette
Martinborough winemakers are renowned for their fine wines. Cellar doors are relaxed but refined environments, which makes them such attractive places to visit.
Wineries charge $5 for a tasting, most (but not all) will waive the fee for a person who buys wine. Remember cellar doors are there as an outlet for their product, they love it when your purchase a few bottles! Green Jersey Cycle Tours are very happy to collect any purchases (no matter how big or small) Free of charge!
If you have a group of greater than 6 people. It is a good idea to ring ahead to a few wineries to let them know you are coming (see the list below).
It is also a good idea to nominate a “treasurer”, one person who pays for the tastings rather than everyone doing their own thing. It will save you time and make the cellar door people very happy.
