Ruakōkoputuna Road Ride
40+ km mixture of gravel and sealed road
Ruakokopatuna Road is quiet, but Lake Ferry Road can be busy and has no shoulder, so ride with hi vis gear and care.
Directions
- 0km: Depart Green Jersey head right along Broadway Street. Cycle to the end and turn Right on New York Street, then left on Cambridge Road and right onto Puruatanga Road.
- 2.1km: Look out for Poppies of Martinborough on your left – this is where you are having lunch at 1.30pm. A great place to taste a little of Martinborough’s finest wine. Continue in the same direction of travel. After approximately two kilometres you will arrive at a T-intersection, turn left and cycle down the hill. You cross a minor bridge, then look out for Te Muna Road on your right.
- 5.0km: Te Muna Road – turn right into Te Muna Road and ride 7 Kilometres to its end. Turn Left onto Whiterock road and ride 1 Kilometre until you reach Ruakokopatuna Road.
- 13km: Turn Right into Ruakokopatuna Road. You are riding on gravel (with a few short sealed sections).
- 20km: Turn Right onto Bluerock Road – an undulating uphill followed by a fun downhill that transitions to a sealed road. Continue on the sealed road until you find Three Little Words/Coney Wines on your right hand side.
- 40km: Turn right onto Lake Ferry Road and ride 9km. (note this road is lightly trafficked, but is a 100km/h speed zone and riders should be in single file) Until you return to Martinborough for a cool beverage.
- End of ride: To Poppies for a 1.30pm lunch – 91 Puruatanga road … Relax and enjoy. you deserve it!
