Meet The Team!

Meet the people behind Green Jersey. We are a small Wairarapa crew, based around the Martinborough shed, and between us we look after the bikes, the bookings, the wine tours and the days out on the trail. Some of us have been here since the start. Others joined as the tours grew. What has not changed is that this is still a hands-on operation: someone will meet you at the shed, and someone will have the bikes ready. If you have hired a bike, booked a tour, or just turned up a bit unsure, you have almost certainly already dealt with one of the people below.

Pam and Joe Howells at a restaurant in France

Pam & Joe

Directors/Owners

Pam and Joe started Green Jersey and they’re still very much part of it. They love being out on the bikes, and they care a lot about this place — planting, trapping, that sort of thing, not just talking about it. Joe’s a qualified field guide and still takes some of our tours. They’ve backed the team from the start and they still do.

Johnny

Head Guide

Johnny is our head guide. He loves being out on the trail with a group, and he’s the one out front on a lot of the trips. He also looks after our work with Māori business partners, which matters a lot to how we run things here. If you end up on a multi-day tour there’s a fair chance Johnny will be the person you remember.

James

General Manager

James looks after the day-to-day running of Green Jersey. He’s been around bikes and this business a long time, and he still loves getting out on a ride as much as he did at the start. He’s happiest helping put a trip together or turning up at the shed. If you’ve emailed, booked a tour or arrived a bit unsure, there’s a good chance James has been in the mix somewhere.

Simon

Wine Expert & Tour Guide

Simon looks after our wine tours. Most of them are by bus, visiting Martinborough cellar doors for the day. He loves this stuff — the vineyards, the people who make the wine, talking it through with whoever’s in the van. He’s good company, which is really what you want when you’re tasting your way around town. Ask him where to go and you’ll get a straight answer.

Dylan, Green Jersey shed leader

Dylan

Shed Leader

Dylan runs the Martinborough shed. He loves keeping the bikes in good nick and the hire running when it gets busy. If you turn up needing a bike, a pump or a bit of direction, Dylan’s usually the one who sorts it out.
